    Sir John McNeill, (1795 - 17 May 1883) was a British diplomat and doctor. he was attached to the East India Company's legation in Persia (1824 - 1835) He became ambassador to Iran in May 1836. 3 years after Britain broke relations with Iran, he returned in 1841 and served until 1844.
