    * Teergan *

    Teergan is one of ancient Iranian Festivities. It is one of 12 monthly Iranian Feasts and one of Persian fire festivals.Besides the fourth month of the Persian year, the 13th day of each ancient month is called Teer. Because of some justifications in the Iranian Official Calendar, Teergan is mostly celebrated on the 10th of the month of Teer or June, 30th in Gregorian calendar.Teergan honors Teeshtar, the deity that brings rain according to Iranian mythology. The Shabahang Star is the symbol of Teeshtar. According to the mythical Iranian history, Teergan is the day that Arash Kamangir threw his arrow from the top of the Alborz Mountains.Although Teergan is still widely celebrated by the Zoroastrian community around the world, it's been honored by some Iranians as a cultural heritage. Every year in Damavand Mountain, Teergan is celebrated with water games around river banks.
